Youth held in Netrokona for posting videos of vandalising idols of gods, goddess on social media

DHAKA, March 15, 2025 (BSS) - The Detective Branch (DB) of police today arrested an individual allegedly for sharing videos of vandalizing idols of the gods and goddess on social networking site from Barhatta Police Station of Netrokona district.

The arrested was identified as- Md. Jobayed Islam (21), son of late Abul Mia and late Rahela Begum, a resident of Paschimpara, post-Mohanganj, union Parishad Singdha under Barhatta Police Station of Netrokona district, said a police press release.

A squad of the DB of Netrokona district arrested Jobayed around 5:30pm today.

He was arrested several times earlier on charges of posting videos of breaking idols of Hindu gods and goddess on his own Facebook ID, Ayanar Bhalobasha, Md. Jubayel and Facebook page, Asen Ananda Ney and TikTok ID and “@mdjubayed4062” with the intention of hurting religious sentiments, the release said.

The seized videos of breaking the idols of gods and goddess, which were posted on various social networking sites, were kept as evidences.

A regular case was registered against the arrestee under section 16 of the Special Powers Act, 1974 with Barhatta Police Station in this connection.
