World Habitat Day observed in Natore

NATORE, Oct 6, 2025 (BSS) - World Habitat Day-2025 was observed in the district today with a call for building sustainable and inclusive cities through planned development to tackle urban challenges.

This year's theme was "Planned Development Stream, Response to Urban Problems." 

A discussion meeting marking the day was held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner.

Deputy Commissioner Asma Shaheen presided over the event.

Speakers at the discussion stressed the need for planned urbanization to meet the growing population's needs while ensuring environmental conservation and social equity. 

They said urban development must integrate key components such as transportation, water bodies, disaster management, and new technologies to create livable cities.

They also emphasized reducing social disparity and building cities that are environmentally friendly, disaster-resilient, and inclusive for all.

Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department Md Mostafizur Rahman, Executive Engineer of the Roads and Highways Department Md Kamrul Hasan, Deputy Director of the Department of Social Services Md Mostafizur Rahman, and Sub-Divisional Engineer of the Public Works Department Md Taufiqul Islam also spoke, among others.
