Finance ministry approves proposal for recruitment of 4,000 ASIs

DHAKA, Oct 6, 2025 (BSS) - The finance ministry has approved a proposal of the home ministry for the recruitment of 4,000 unarmed Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) of police for enhancing the capability of the law enforcing force.

The finance ministry through a letter, signed by Deputy Secretary of its cost management unit Kazi Lutful Hassan, recently gave the approval for the recruitment of the police officials.

These posts at the 14th grade of the national pay scale would be created against different units of the force under various terms and conditions for enhancing the capacity of the prime law and order force of the country.

After getting the approval, the home ministry has already taken necessary measures for the recruitment of 4,000 ASIs ahead of the upcoming national parliament election, official sources said.

A total of 2000 ASIs would be recruited directly and the rest 2000 would be promoted to the rank of ASI from the post of constables, the sources added.
