CHATTOGRAM, Oct 6, 2025 (BSS) - A devastating fire broke out early Monday, destroying eight shops in the Fakirhat Bazar area of Fatikchari Upazila in the district.

Shop owner Azizul Hoque and sources from the Fatikchari Upazila Fire Service and Civil Defense said the fire started around 1:30 a.m. due to an electrical short circuit in one of the shops and quickly spread to neighboring establishments.

Two firefighting units from the Fatikchari Upazila Fire Service and Civil Defense rushed to the scene. With the assistance of local residents, they managed to bring the flames under control by 3 a.m.
