Man to die for killing wife, two daughters in Jashore

JASHORE, Oct 6, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a man to death for killing his wife and two daughters in Abhaynagar upazila of the district in 2022. 

Judge of Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-8 Md. Zakir Hossain Tipu delivered the verdict this afternoon, said public prosecutor (PP) of the court Mahabubur Rahman.

The convict is Zahirul Islam Babu, son of Mashiur Biswas of Jagannathpur Biswaspara in Jashore Sadar upazila. 

According to prosecution, Zahirul Islam Babu had a conflict with his wife Sabina Yasmin Bithir, 32, over various issues. 

On the afternoon of July 15, 2022, Babu was returning home in Jagannathpur village of Sadar upazila from his in-laws' Siddhipasha village in Abhaynagar upazila with his wife Bithi and two daughters Sumaiya, 9 and Safia, 2.

On the way Babu strangled his wife and two daughters and dumped their bodies in a garden in Chengutia area next to the Jashore-Khulna highway under Abhaynagar upazila.

Later, after informing his family about the matter, Babu went to the Basundia Police Investigation Center in Sadar upazila and confessed everything. 

From there, the DB police took him into custody. Sabina Yasmin Bithi's father Mujibur Rahman filed a case with Abhaynagar Police Station in this connection.
