Met office forecasts rain over parts of country

DHAKA, Mar 16, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecasted rain or thundershowers at one or two places over Sylhet division for the next 24 hours, begins from this morning.

"Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind with hails at isolated places are likely to occur at one or two places over Sylhet division. Weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country, said a Met office bulletin.

Trough of low lies over west Bengal and adjoining area. Seasonal low lies over the South Bay.

Day temperature may remain nearly unchanged and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.

Mild heat wave is sweeping over the Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajgonj, Kushtia and Rangamati districts.

Country's maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded 37.5 degrees Celsius at Kumarkhali and minimum temperature today was recorded 19.0 degrees Celsius at Sylhet.

Country's highest rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded 68 millimeters (mm) at Sylhet.

The sun sets today at 6.08pm and rises tomorrow at 6.06am in the capital.
