174 persons apprehended by DMP in last 24-hrs; 70 cases filed

DHAKA, March 20, 2025 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has rounded up 174 individuals operating patrols and checkposts as parts of its security arrangements across the city.

In the last 24 hours it has operated 667 patrol teams and 71 checkposts, and the patrol teams performed duties in two shifts for public safety under its 50 police stations from 12:01am to 11:59pm on Wednesday, according to the DMP’s Crime Command and Control Center. 

Out of these, 340 teams performed duties at night, while 327 teams during the day. 

The patrol teams included 479 mobile patrol teams, 73 foot patrol teams, and 115 motorcycle patrol teams. 

In addition, 71 police checkposts were operated by the DMP at various important and strategic locations to enhance security in the metropolitan area.

In the last 24 hours, 174 people involved in various crimes were arrested in the combined operations conducted in different areas of the city.

The arrestees included five robbers, 13 professional active muggers, three extortionists, six thieves, 43 individuals wanted in previous cases, and 18 identified drug dealers.

In the operation, the law enforcers seized different homemade weapons, a private car, five mobile phones and Taka 12,310 in cash.

In addition, the drugs recovered included 1,547 pieces of Yaba and 106.151 kgs of ganja.

In the last 24 hours, 70 cases were filed with different police stations of DMP.
