DHAKA, April 14, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has said it was BNP who first gave outline for state reforms defying Hasina's dictatorial regime on the streets.

"BNP did not talk about reforms from any advantage. On one hand, it was carrying out the movement, and on the other hand, BNP was thinking about building a democratic country," he said.

Tarique Rahman made these remarks while virtually joining a discussion on 31-point outline for repairing the state structure and citizen's thinking announced by BNP on Sunday night.

Tarique Rahman said today those who are talking about reforms are taking advantage from the government like cars, salaries, bonuses, and allowances.

"Now, how many of those who talked about reforms before during the dictator Sheikh Hasina's regime, talked about state reforms at that time?", he questioned.

Tarique Rahman mentioned that when BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and thousands of leaders and activists across the country were in prison, cases were filed against millions of leaders and activists, and they were being harassed, BNP gave 31 points for state reforms.

Therefore, the acting chairman of the party said that reforms will be carried out in the country to change the fate of the people once BNP comes to power.

"We may have mistakes, we may have limitations, some of us may be involved in some immoral activities. But our biggest credit is that if someone has done wrong, we are not in denial.

We have said that wrongdoers cannot be members of any party. The identity of the wrongdoer is the wrongdoer. We do not want to have any relationship with the wrongdoer," he said.

Tareque Rahman mentioning that the BNP's goal is to change the fate of the people of this country.

"To do something better for this country. But the party cannot do it alone. This is the Bangladesh Nationalist Party with all of you. So, when each and every one of you comes forward, it will be possible for us to implement the 31 points," he said.
