BGB stands by Swarna’s family on Pahela Baishakh occasion

DHAKA, April 14, 2025 (BSS) - The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today extended cooperation to the grieved family of Swarna Das, 14, who was gunned down allegedly by the members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in Kaluara upazila of Moulvibazar on September 1  last year.

"On the occasion of Pahela Baishakh, the deceased family members today spent Pahela Baishakah, the first day of the Bangla New Year without Swarna," Commanding Officer of the 52 BGB Battalion Lt Col Md Mehedi Hasan told journalists today.

Members of the 52 BGB Battalion in Beanibazar gave a high-yielding breed of Fijian cow to her family.

Representatives from the Youth Journalists’ Community also joined there and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family, said a BGB spokesman.

Talking to journalists, Swarna's father Porendra Das said, “We are devastated by the loss of our daughter. BGB has stood by us from the beginning. We are grateful to the BGB director general and the entire battalion for this kind presentation.”

Swarna Das was a student of class eight of Nirod Bihari High School in Juri upazila.
