Govt distributes Tk 18 lakh to 9 martyred families in Bagerhat

BAGERHAT, April 15, 2025 (BSS) - Bagerhat Zila Parishad has provided financial assistance of Taka two lakh each of the nine martyred families, who made the ultimate sacrifice during the student-led mass uprising in July-August 2024. 

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Bagerhat Ahmed Kamrul Hasan handed over the cheques to the families at a function held at the DC office's conference room this noon.

DC Hasan attended the event as the chief guest, while Chief Executive Officer of the Zila Parishad, Bhaskar Debnath Bappi, presided over the programme.

The families of the martyrs include those of martyr Alif Ahmed of Bashbaria village in Bagerhat Sadar upazila, martyr Alamgir Molla of Gopal Kathi village, martyr Chabbir Mallick of Hijla Math Para village in Chitalmari upazila of the district, martyr Jasim Fakir of Char Chinguria village, martyr Md. Mahfuzur Rahman of Nishan Baria Hartkitla village in Morelganj upazila, martyr Shahriar Alvi of Paschim Bahr Bunia village, martyr Biplob Sheikh of Buriganni village in Mollahat upazila, martyr Shahin Hawlader of Kachu Bunia village in Mongla upazil and martyr Anwar Hossain Patwari of Sheola Bunia village.

Bagerhat District BNP convener Engineer ATM Akram Hossain Talim, Bagerhat District BNP coordinator and prominent industrialist MA Salam, Jamaat-e-Islami Bagerhat District Amir Maulana Rezaul Karim, Local Government Branch deputy director Dr. Fakrul Hasan, additional deputy commissioner Ariful Islam and Advocate Wadud were present, among others.

Joint commissioner of the district Mirza Golam Sabru conducted the programme.
