Pahela Baishakh celebrated in Uzbekistan

DHAKA, April 15, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh High Commission in Uzbekistan hosted a vibrant program at the embassy premises yesterday to celebrate Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bengali New Year 1432.

The Bangladesh mission also held a seminar titled "Bangladesh-Uzbekistan Ties: Possibilities and Opportunities in Tourism Sector."

Ambassadors and diplomats of different countries to Uzbekistan, officials of renowned tour associations, university teachers and students and Bangladeshi expatriates in the country attended the programme, said a statement today.

High Commissioner Dr Mohammad Monirul Islam exchanged new year greetings with the attendees.

Speaking at the seminar, he highlighted long-standing ties between the countries in developing the tourism sector.
 
Tourism not only strengthens the existing friendship between the countries but also contributes to expanding trade, education and culture, he said.
