Pahela Baishakh celebrated in Brazil

DHAKA, April 15, 2025 (BSS) - Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bengali New Year 1432, was celebrated amid festivity at the Bangladesh High Commission premises in Brasilia yesterday.

The Bangladesh mission was decorated with colourful balloons, festoons, posters and flowers to celebrate the day. 'Alpana', a traditional Bengali folk art on floors and walls, added extra ambience to the function.

Bangladeshi expatriates in Brazil and many foreign dignitaries attended the event with enthusiasm.
 
The Bengali New Year celebration began through singing famous song 'Esho Hey Boisakh, Esho Esho'. 

Speaking at the programme, Ambassador Sadia Faizunnesa highlighted rich Bengali culture.

She thanked the Bangladeshi expatriates in Brazil for their efforts to showcase Bangladesh's rich cultural heritage on foreign land. 

She urged all to cooperate in building a prosperous and discrimination-free Bangladesh.

Besides, the Ambassador also read out a message of Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus at the event.

She prayed for salvation of the 2024 July uprising martyrs and for speedy recovery of the injured victims.

The programme featured traditional Bangladeshi clothing and handicrafts and offered delicacies including Panta-hilsa, pitha and sweets.

Attendees also enjoyed various games and cultural activities, with prizes distributed by the Ambassador to the winners.
