DHAKA, April 15, 2025 (BSS) – US deputy assistant secretary in the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs (SCA) Nicole Ann Chulick and deputy assistant secretary in the Bureau of East Asian and the Pacific Affairs Andrew R Herrup will arrive in Dhaka early Wednesday on a three-day visit.

This will be the first delegation from the US President Donald Trump administration to visit Bangladesh.

The US officials are scheduled to meet with foreign adviser Md Touhid Hossain, National Security Adviser Khalilur Rahman and other senior government representatives on Thursday, foreign ministry’s official familiar with the visit told BSS today.

The delegation is likely to hold separate meetings with leaders of various political parties, as well as representatives of civil society.

Foreign ministry’s official said Nicole Chulick will focus on discussions on the interim government’s reform processes and democratic transition in Bangladesh.

On the other hand, Andrew Herrup’s visit will discuss Rohingya crisis and situation in Myanmar.

US chargé d’affaires in Myanmar Susan Stevenson is likely to join Andrew Herrup, sources said.

“There will be discussions on all aspects of relations with the United States,” Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain told reporters early.
