SC resumes regular judicial proceedings

DHAKA, April 20, 2025 (BSS) - The Supreme Court (SC), the apex court of the country, has resumed its judicial activities from today after a month long vacation, including the holidays of Eid-ul-Fitr.

However, during the vacation, judicial proceedings were conducted in several benches to hear and dispose of urgent cases in the High Court Division. In addition, urgent cases were heard and orders were issued in the Chamber Court of the Appellate Division.

The Supreme Court went on vacation on March 20.

Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed has already formed 48 benches in the High Court with specific judicial jurisdiction. Out of these benches, 30 are double benches and 18 single ones.

Justice A.K.M. Asaduzzaman and Justice Farah Mahbub who were earlier elevated to the Appellate Division from the High Court Division were given felicitation today at the Chief Justice’s courtroom by the Supreme Court Bar and the Attorney General’s Office, court sources said.

The President appointed the two judges of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court to the Appellate Division on March 24. The next day, on March 25, Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed administered the oath to the two judges.
