SUNAMGANJ, May 1, 2025 (BSS) – A farmer was killed when a thunderbolt hit him at Atani Bil under Shalla upazila of the district today.

The deceased was Rinku Das, 30, son of late Randhir Das, a resident of Gopalpur village under Charnarchar union in Dirai upazila of the district.

Lightning followed by a rainstorm hit Rinku around 1.30 pm when he was carrying paddy from a field.

Rinku was taken to Dirai Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dirai Police Station Abdur Razzak confirmed the matter.
