PIROJPUR, May 1, 2025 (BSS) - A housewife was killed and three others were injured in a road accident today when a goods-laden pickup truck collided with an auto-rickshaw in the Biswasbari Bridge area on the Mathbaria-Sapleza road under Mathbaria upazila.

The deceased was identified as Maksuda Begum (40), wife of Md. Alamgir Hossain (50), a fruit trader from Bhaijora village in the upazila. She was the mother of two children.

The accident occurred around 10:30am while Maksuda and two other members of her family were traveling from Sapleza Bazar to Mathbaria by auto-rickshaw. A pickup truck coming from the opposite direction ran over their vehicle.

The auto-rickshaw was mangled in the collision, leaving its driver and the two other passengers seriously injured.

Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, Officer-in-Charge of Mathbaria Police Station, confirmed the incident, adding that legal proceedings are underway.
