Campaigns must be intensified to raise dengue awareness: Asif Mahmud

DHAKA, May 13, 2025 (BSS) - Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain today said that campaigns on social media, as well as electronic and print media, must be intensified to raise awareness about dengue.

Asif emphasized the importance of increasing NGO involvement in raising dengue awareness at the rural level, saying that members of voluntary organizations such as BNCC and Scouts, as well as religious institutions including mosques and temples, must be engaged to boost public participation.

The adviser made the remarks while addressing a meeting on 'Dengue Awareness: What to Do in the Future' at the meeting room of Nagar Bhaban in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) here.

Health and Family Welfare Adviser Nurjahan Begum, LGD Secretary Md. Rezaul Maksud Jahedi, and the DSCC administrator, among others, were present at the event.

The adviser placed special emphasis on involving the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs in the committee to strengthen the campaign.
