EWU signs student exchange MoU with Japan's Okayama Shoka University

DHAKA, Nov 10, 2025 (BSS) - East West University (EWU) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japan's Okayama Shoka University to launch a student exchange programme fostering cross-cultural understanding, academic collaboration, and greater global opportunities for Bangladeshi students.

The signing ceremony was held at Okayama Shoka University in Okayama, Japan, according to a message received here today. 

Professor Akio Ijiri, President of Okayama Shoka University, and Dr. Asik Mossadik, Pro Vice-Chancellor of East West University, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Md. Daud Ali attended the ceremony and underscored the diplomatic and educational significance of this partnership, saying that such collaboration would strengthen Bangladesh-Japan people-to-people ties and academic cooperation.

The partnership marks a key milestone in Okayama Shoka University's internationalization efforts. The Japanese university currently maintains exchange programmes with 60 universities in China and three universities in South Korea, while additional collaborations with institutions in Vietnam and Thailand are under process.

Under the newly signed MoU, students from East West University will have the opportunity to study at Okayama Shoka University during the third and fourth years of their undergraduate courses. 

The initiative is expected to broaden research opportunities and enhance employability for Bangladeshi graduates in Japan.

Details regarding the implementation and schedule of the first student exchanges will be announced soon. 

Officials said the programme aligns with Bangladesh's national vision to strengthen higher education through global partnerships and international exposure.
