Rain, thundershowers likely in parts of country

DHAKA, May 14, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today predicted rain or thundershowers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind in different parts of the country for the next 120 hrs, commencing from 9am.

"Rain or thundershowers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with hail at isolated places," said a BMD bulletin.

Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Khulna division and the districts of Rajshahi, Natore, Pabna, Sirajganj, Dhaka, Tangail, Narayanganj, Manikganj, Rajbari, Faridpur, Gopalganj, and Patuakhali and it may continue.

Country's highest temperature recorded on Tuesday was 38.7 degrees Celsius at Chuadanga in Khulna division and lowest temperature recorded today was 21.6 degrees Celsius at Sylhet in Sylhet division.

The sun sets today at 6:33pm and rises at 5:17am tomorrow in the capital.
