DHAKA, May 17, 2025 (BSS) - Environment, Forest and Climate Change Secretary Dr Farhina Ahmed has strongly condemned the recent attack on forest officials in Savar, calling it "outrageous and unacceptable."

She said a group of miscreants attacked the forest officials while they were protecting the land from illegal encroachment.

"It is our collective responsibility to ensure the safety of those who are working to protect our environment," the secretary added.

Dr Farhina Ahmed made these remarks while visiting injured Beat Officer Mohidur Rahman at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital this morning.

She urged law enforcement agencies to swiftly identify and bring the attackers to justice.

During the visit, the secretary inquired about Mohidur Rahman's condition and directed the hospital authorities to ensure proper treatment.

Joint Secretary (Forest) Shamima Begum, Chief Conservator of Forests Md. Amir Hosain Chowdhury, and other senior officials were also present.

According to a ministry press release, Beat Officer Mohidur Rahman Joy and four other forest staff were injured in an attack by miscreants on Thursday while resisting an illegal land grab attempt in the Savar Sub-Beat area at Chhoto Kaliakoir, Savar.
