DHAKA, May 17, 2025 (BSS) - Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) today detained a Dubai-bound passenger with an undeclared amount of 70,000 Saudi Riyals during routine screening procedures at the departure terminal.

The passenger, identified as Helal Uddin, was scheduled to travel to Dubai on Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-147.

He was intercepted at pre-boarding gate BB-4 around 4:18pm, where AVSEC personnel recovered the currency from his possession during security scanning.

"Upon detection, the individual was immediately detained, and the foreign currency was seized," HSIA's Executive Director Group Captain Ragib Samad told BSS confirming the incident.

Both the passenger and the seized currency were handed over to the customs authorities for further legal action, he added.
