DHAKA, May 17, 2025 (BSS) – Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Security Force (BSF) of India today held a flag meeting at Chuadanga on various problems of borders.
The one and a half hours long meeting took place at the Indian side near 96/8 Jagannathpur BOP border pillar under BGB-6 battalion today.
Commander of BGB-6 battalion Lieutenant Colonel Md Nazmul Hasan represented Bangladesh side and 161 BSF battalion commandant Suvash Chandra Gangua represented the Indian part in the meeting with the presence of other concerned officers.
The meeting discussed several issues including recent push-in crisis, cross border drone flying, installation of barbed wire fences in the borders and trafficking.
Later, BGB-6 issued a press release on flag-meeting.
According to the release, the commanding officer of the Chuadanga Battalion raised concerns about the recent construction of posts/bunkers by the BSF on the Indian side of the border near Munshipur BOP area from Thakhurpur, as well as the installation of barbed wire fences along bamboo barriers at various locations violating the laws.
Notably the issues such as drone flights in the zero lines area of the border and the illegal push-in of the foreign and Bangladeshi nationals into Bangladesh in presence of BSF personnel were brought to the attention of the BSF commandant.
The BGB commander urged the BSF commandant to remain vigilant so that no such incidents of push-in occur in Chuadanga border area.
Agreeing with the BGB commander on the issue of push-ins, the BSF commandant affirmed that no such incidents would occur along Chuadanga border, as mentioned in the statement.
Commenting on the setting up of posts near border area, BSF commandant responded that during the monsoon season, for the convenience of BSF personnel on duty, no new posts would be set up except for the renovation of the existing old posts while temporarily built bunkers had already been removed.
Regarding drone flights, he said Indian citizens living near the border fly toy drones, which BSF has been trying to bring under control.
Both battalion commanders also agreed to reduce border killings to zero level, prevent illegal border crossings and smuggling, increase border patrol activity, and continue intelligence surveillance to enhance border security, the press release said.
After the flag meeting, the battalion commanders of both sides jointly inspected main pillar 97 and the associated sub-pillars and T-pillars in the Jagannathpur BGB and Gongra BSF camp areas on foot.
