Body of missing youth recovered in Madaripur

MADARIPUR, May 18, 2025 (BSS) - The body of a youth was recovered this morning from the Arial Khan River in the district after two days of his missing.

The deceased was Sumon Sipahi, 25, son of Kalu Sipahi of Baherchar Katla area under Panchkhola union in Sadar upazila.

On Friday, some youths rented a trawler for a picnic and enjoyed visiting different areas of the Arial Khan River.

On the way back at night, the picnic trawler sank after being hit by a sand-laden bulkhead coming from the opposite direction in the Baherchar Katla area and Sumon went missing.

After two days of the incident, locals recovered Sumon's body from the Rajachar area of Sadar upazila this morning, said Md. Sheikh Ahaduzzaman, inspector of Madaripur Fire Service and Civil Defence Office.
