GAIBANDHA, June 12, 2025 (BSS) - A body of a child was recovered from the Bangali river near Bishpukur area under Gobindaganj upazila in the district this afternoon. 

The victim is identified as Tania, daughter of Tazinur Rahman of the area. 

Local sources said, Tania along her companions went to the river this morning to take bath this morning and drowned in the river. Despite searching, her body was not found in the spot because the water of the river swept downstream the body from the scene.

Being informed, the divers from Rangpur conducted search and one stage, they found the body at downstream of the river this afternoon. 

A pal of gloom descended in the area following the incident. 

Officer in charge of Gobindaganj Fire Service and Civil Defense station Atitul Islam confirmed the incident and urged the guardians to be more careful about their children.
