Rizwana for building Rabindra University as nature, eco-friendly campus

SHAHJADPUR (Sirajganj), June 16, 2025 (BSS) - Environment, Forest and Climate 
Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan has called for building the campus of 
Rabindra University as nature and eco-friendly and the issue must be ensured.
 
"There is no scope of denying the necessity of a campus of any university," 
she said while visiting the proposed site for a permanent campus of the 
university here today. 

Initiatives were taken to build the permanent campus of the university at the 
adjacent area of Shahjadpur Rabindra Kuthibari.

On the occasion, she also addressed a public gathering as the chief guest. 

Adviser Rizwana Hassan said the issue of ecological balance, conservation of 
water reservoirs and local biodiversity must be ensured strictly during the 
time building the campus.
 
She noted that the university has been established in the context of 
literature, philosophy and love to nature of Rabindra Tagore and allocation 
to the university will be enhanced in phases.

"All of us should be hopeful, eyeing to the ground instead of frustrated 
eyeing to the sky," she added.

"We want the university to familiarize Sirajganj home and abroad more," 
Rizwana continued. 

Member of Bangladesh Planning Commission Dr Kaium Ara Begum, Vice-chancellor 
of Rabindra University Professor SM Hassan Talukder, Pro-vice-chancellor 
Professor Sumon Kanti Barua, Sirajganj Deputy Commissioner Nazrul Islam, 
Superintendent of Police Faruque Hossain and Additional Chief Engineer of 
Bangladesh Water Development Board Mukhlesur Rahman and Conservator of Forest 
Muhammad Subedar Islam were present on the occasion.

Later, Adviser Rizwana Hassan visited the progress of Enayetpur Spur 
Strengthening works on the bank of Jamuna River at Chowhali upazila in the 
district giving necessary direction to the BWDB officials.
