Tk 2 crore distributed among wildlife victims in compensation

Dhaka, June 23, 2025 (BSS) - The Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate 
Change has provided financial compensation over Taka 2 crore to 494 
individuals affected by wildlife incidents across the country.

Adviser of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry Syeda Rizwana 
Hasan disclosed the information during a press conference held at the 
Bangladesh Secretariat here. 

She stated that the compensation has been provided under the Compensation for 
Loss of Life and Property Regulations 2021.

"The government is actively working to promote sustainable environmental 
protection through public awareness and community participation," she said. 

She also noted that a specialist committee has been formed in Chattogram to 
resolve ongoing human-elephant conflicts. 

Additionally, actions are being taken against extortion activities involving 
domesticated elephants, she said.
