Bhutan FS greets his new Bangladesh counterpart

DHAKA, June 24, 2025 (BSS) - Bhutan foreign secretary Pema Choden has 
congratulated Asad Alam Siam for his appointment as the foreign secretary of 
Bangladesh. 

The congratulatory letter was handed over to Siam by Bhutanese ambassador to 
Bangladesh Dasho Karma Hamu Dorjee while paying a courtesy call on him today 
at the foreign ministry here, said a ministry's press release. 

The Foreign Secretary welcomed the newly-appointed Ambassador of Bhutan to 
Bangladesh and congratulated on her appointment. 

During the meeting, they discussed various areas of bilateral cooperation 
including trade and education. 

Referring to the excellent and longstanding friendly relations between 
Bangladesh and Bhutan, Foreign Secretary emphasized that there remains 
substantial potential for deepening bilateral cooperation across various 
sectors. 

Highlighting the quality of various Bangladeshi products, the Foreign 
Secretary hoped that Bangladesh's export to Bhutan would see an increase. 

He noted that the next round of the Commerce Secretary Level Meeting would be 
convened in Dhaka at a mutually convenient date. 

He conveyed that Bangladesh is looking forward to the next round of Foreign 
Office Consultations (FOC) to be held this year in Dhaka at a mutually 
convenient time.
