Indian cosmetics worth Tk 3.5cr seized in Sylhet

DHAKA, June 25, 2025 (BSS) - In a joint operation of Bangladesh Army and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Tuesday seized a huge quantity of Indian cosmetics worth about Tk 3.5 crore at Haripur on the Sylhet-Tamabil highway.

Acting on a tip-off, a special patrol team of BGB's Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB) and 27 Bir Haripur Army Camp of Bangladesh Army conducted the operation at Haripur on Tamabil-Sylhet highway.

During the operation, the joint team stopped a sand-laden truck heading towards Sylhet and seized the Indian cosmetics after a search, said a press release issued by BGB. 

These seized cosmetics were being uniquely loaded into trucks and covered with sand. 

The estimated value of the seized cosmetics is Tk 3.5 crore.

In this regard, Sylhet Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md Nazmul Haque said that the BGB's operational and intelligence activities to protect security at the border and prevent smuggling are continuing. 

In continuation of this, the joint team seized a huge amount of smuggled Indian cosmetics.

A case was filed in this connection.
