CPC keen to ink political MoU with BNP: Liu Jianchao

DHAKA, June 25, 2025 (BSS) – Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, has said the CPC is interested to sign a political memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

He expressed the interest at a meeting with the visiting BNP delegation, led by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, on Tuesday, BNP's media cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan confirmed.

 Liu Jianchao welcomed the BNP's clear position on the 'One China' policy.

At the meeting, BNP delegates said Chinese President Xi Jinping's Belt and Road Initiative is groundbreaking and incredible for China and the global development and people’s welfare. 

To this end, BNP congratulated the President. Besides, the BNP expressed its expectation for China's greater participation in infrastructure development and employment-related projects in Bangladesh.

Later, the high-level BNP delegation attended a luncheon hosted, in honour of them, by Sun Haiyan, Vice Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.

The high-level BNP delegation has been on a visit to China since last Monday. 

The nine-member delegation comprised of BNP standing committee members Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Selima Rahman and AZM Zahid Hossain.

BNP chairperson's advisory council members Zahir Uddin Swapon, Ismail Jabiullah and Prof Sukomal Barua, along with BNP media cell convener Maudud Ahmed Pavel, also joined the delegation.
