National Moon Sighting Committee to meet tomorrow to fix Ashura date

DHAKA, June 25, 2025 (BSS) - A meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee will be held tomorrow to fix the date of the Ashura, after reviewing reports on the moon's appearance of the month of Muharram of 1447 Hijri.

The meeting will be held at the Islamic Foundation Conference Room at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 7pm, an IF press release said today.

Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain will chair the meeting, according to the release.

If the moon of the holy Muharram month is seen anywhere on the sky of the country, the concerned people have been requested to inform dialing the telephone numbers - 02-223381725, 02-41050912, 02-41050916 and 02-41050917 or through the fax numbers-- 02-223383397 and 02-9555951 or inform the concerned district administrators or upazilanirbahi officers, the release also said.
