Commonwealth delegation calls on JU VC

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, June 25, 2025 (BSS) - A delegation from the Commonwealth Secretariat paid a courtesy call on the Jahangirnagar University (JU) Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan today.

The meeting was held at 1:00 pm at the Vice-Chancellor's office.

The delegation was led by Professor Michelle Scobie, Adviser and Head at the Good Offices Section under the Governance and Peace Directorate of the Commonwealth.

During the meeting, the delegation expressed keen interest in promoting democracy, good governance, as well as other charters of the Commonwealth.

In response, JU VC expressed his desire to strengthen academic and research collaborations with the Commonwealth and extended his gratitude to the visiting delegation.

Among others present were Jordan Neal from the Commonwealth delegation and JU Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman, Philosophy department Chairman Prof Dr. Md. Munir Hossain Talukder, Assistant Professor Mohammad Ullah of the Philosophy department and several students from different departments.

Earlier in the day, the delegation attended a special session organized by the Department of Philosophy focusing on Commonwealth Scholarships and strategies to enhance student networking within the Commonwealth framework.

Following the session, the department chair presented commemorative gifts to the guests as a token of appreciation.
