NARAYANGANJ, July 23, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a man to death for killing his wife over family feud in Sonargaon upazila of the district in 2020.

District and Sessions Judge Md. Abu Shamim Azad announced the verdict on Wednesday afternoon, Court Police Inspector Md. Qayyum Khan said.

The convict is Amirul Islam alias Babu, 35, a teacher of Bandar Girls School and son of late Rafiqul Islam, a resident of Sonargaon Barudi area of the district.

According to prosecution, convict Amirul killed his wife over family feud on December 26, 2020.

Later, police recovered the body on December 29. 

Abdul karim, father of the deceased, filed a case with Bandar Thana in this connection and police arrested Amirul.

The judge after examining witnesses and evidence found the convict guilty and handed down the punishment.
