DHAKA, Aug 11, 2025 (BSS) - The High Court (HC) today issued a rule asking the authorities concerned why it should not order Tk 5 crore in compensation for the family of an infant whose arm was broken during treatment at Delta Medical College Hospital in the capital.

A High Court division bench of Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Sayed Jahed Mansur passed the order after holding hearing on a writ petition filed by the father of the victim.

The court also wanted to know why it shall not pass order to take punitive action against the doctors, accused of negligence in treatment. It also ordered to probe the incident and submit the report within three months.

Barrister Md Shafikul Islam moved the plea before the court, while Assistant Attorney General Ikramul Kabir stood for the state.

The five-day old baby was admitted to the hospital on April 3 and his hand got broken allegedly by the doctors there. His father Nurer Safah later filed a writ with the High Court.
