DHAKA, August 11, 2025 (BSS) – Residents of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) will soon be able to pay taxes and utility bills through bKash, following the management committee’s approval of the digital payment system.

The DSCC management committee granted in-principle approval to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with bKash Limited at its eighth meeting held today at Nagar Bhaban, according to a press release.

Presided over by DSCC Administrator Md. Shahjahan Mia, the meeting was attended by 25 committee members, including representatives from various government departments and agencies.

The meeting began with a review of the minutes from the seventh corporation meeting held on June 30, followed by a discussion on the implementation progress report.

Among the approved items was the in-principle decision to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with bKash, enabling residents to pay DSCC-related fees such as trade license charges, holding taxes, market rents, and salami through digital transactions.

The committee said that this initiative would reduce time and cost for citizens while improving transparency and efficiency in revenue collection.

The meeting also endorsed a proposal to construct new graveyards in each of DSCC’s newly formed regions (Region 6 to Region 10). Additionally, the committee approved the official estimate for supplying bamboo and mats for burial purposes in DSCC-managed graveyards, along with excavation work, based on prevailing market rates.

DSCC Administrator Md. Shahjahan Mia praised the committee’s performance, saying that it has been demonstrating notable efficiency in driving the overall development of Dhaka South City Corporation.

He also stressed the importance of public participation in mosquito control and waste management efforts.

DSCC Chief Executive Officer Md. Zahirul Islam, Secretary Muhammad Shafiqul Islam, and all departmental heads were present at the meeting.
