DHAKA, Aug 12, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali today said a comprehensive security plan has been taken to ensure peaceful arrangement of process and other programmes marking the Janmashtami to be celebrated on August 16.
"A flawless security will be provided to the Janmashtami ceremonies in coordination with the armed forces, city corporations and various intelligence agencies," he said while presiding over a coordination meeting at the DMP Headquarters regarding the security and traffic management for the Janmashtami procession.
At the beginning of the coordination meeting, DMP Joint Police Commissioner (Operations) Mohammad Shahidullah presented the overall security plan adopted for the Janmashtami procession through a power point presentation.
After that, representatives of various intelligence agencies, religious leaders, Fire Service, Electricity Division, Dhaka WASA, Dhaka North and South City Corporations and representatives of the Health Department and senior officials of the DMP participated in an open discussion and expressed their valuable opinions.
The meeting emphasized the importance of installing high-quality CCTV cameras in every temple, installing archways in Dhakeshwari National Temple and Swamibag ISKCON Temple, starting and ending the procession at a specific time, deploying a sufficient number of volunteers in designated attire or with visible ID cards, and respecting the religious sentiments of followers of other religions.
On 16 August 2025, the holy religious festival of the followers of Hindu community will be celebrated in Dhaka metropolis in a festive and joyful atmosphere.
A colorful procession will be brought out in the capital on the day to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna.
DMP Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Md. Sarwar, Additional Police Commissioner (Admin) Faruk Ahmed, Additional Police Commissioner (Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime) Md. Masud Karim, Additional Police Commissioner (Logistics, Finance and Procurement) Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali, along with Joint Police Commissioners, Deputy Police Commissioners and other police officers of various ranks, and the President and General Secretary of Bangladesh Puja Udjawan Parishad, President and General Secretary of Mohanagar Sarbojanin Puja Committee, Principal of Ramakrishna Math and Mission, President of ISKCON Bangladesh and representatives of various related organizations were present.
