ANFREL delegation meets CEC to discuss election observation mission

DHAKA, Aug 12, 2025 (BSS) –A delegation from the Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL) today met Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin to present its plans for deploying an international election observation mission during the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Elections.

The meeting took place at the Election Commission building in the capital's Agargaon.

The ANFREL delegation was led by ANFREL Executive Director Brizza Rosales and included members Tharindu Abeyarathna, and Afsana Amey, among others.

Following the meeting, Afsana Amey described the discussion as "very positive and constructive." 

She noted that the CEC welcomed ANFREL’s continued efforts to promote democracy in Bangladesh.

During the meeting, the delegation highlighted the progress of ANFREL’s ongoing workshop aimed at strengthening the capacity of local civil society organizations. 

It was also announced that ANFREL will jointly organize a regional experience exchange conference with the Bangladesh Election Commission. 

The event will bring together election commissioners from across Asia to share their expertise and experiences in election management within the context of Bangladesh.
