DHAKA, Aug 26, 2025 (BSS) - The election commission today announced strict security measures ahead of the Dhaka University Central Students Union (DUCSU) and hall union polls slated for September 9.

For this the authority has decided to place the entire polling centers under CCTV surveillance except the polling booths. Votes would also be counted under CCTV coverage.

The decisions were taken at a coordination meeting at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, a DU press release said here this evening.

With Chief Returning Officer Mohammad Jasim Uddin in the chair, senior returning officers, DU proctorial officials, ICT Cell representatives, police and intelligence officials, as well as BNCC representatives attended the meeting.

Police patrols have already been deployed at all the entry points and within the campus.

Security will also be strengthened in IBA Hostel, Leather Institute, Bangladesh-Kuwait Maitree Hall, Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall, Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall, and other administrative and residential areas.

The authority said any complaints of cyberbullying or rumour-mongering online will be dealt with immediate actions to ensure smooth student movement.

New Market lanes will remain open on the Election Day. A total of 250 BNCC members will be deployed and the number of assistant proctors will be increased.

The DU administration reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a peaceful, safe, and transparent electoral environment for the DUCSU and hall union polls.
