JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Sept 2, 2025 (BSS) - All candidates contesting the upcoming Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) and Hall Union elections, slated for September 11, will be required to undergo a mandatory dope test.

"During the exchange of views meeting held on August 31, most candidates urged us to introduce a mandatory dope test for all contestants of JUCSU and Hall Union elections. After analyzing the overall feedback, the Election Commission sat and decided to implement the proposal," said Chief Election Commissioner Prof Dr Md Maniruzzaman, confirming the matter this evening.

He added that a letter has been sent to the university administration, requesting appropriate measures to conduct the tests for all eligible candidates.

Earlier, on August 31, the Election Commission organized an exchange of views meeting where most of the JUCSU and Hall Union candidates expressed strong support for introducing dope tests as a prerequisite for candidacy.
