DHAKA, Sept 18, 2025 (BSS) - The SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC) has invited applications for its PhD Scholarship Programme 2025, with a special focus on genome editing and stress-tolerant crop variety development.

The initiative, open to Bangladeshi scholars, is designed to strengthen research in advanced biotechnology and develop solutions to tackle the growing challenges of climate change in agriculture, said a press release here today.

Officials at SAC said the programme aims to equip young researchers with cutting-edge skills to innovate crop varieties that can withstand drought, salinity and other environmental stresses.

“Food security in South Asia depends on resilient agriculture and this scholarship will help build the next generation of scientists who can lead that transformation,” SAC noted in its announcement.

Application guidelines and forms are available on the SAC website (www.sac.org.bd) or https://www.sac.org.bd/saarc-phd-scholarship-programme-2025-in-genome-editing-stress-tolerant-crop-variety-from-bangladesh/application-phd_bangladesh/.

Interested candidates have been encouraged to apply within the October 7, 2025.
