DHAKA, Sept 20, 2025 (BSS) – The digitalisation of land related services is underway with introduction of software solutions which by now started yielding good results despite some challenges, Land Ministry’s senior secretary ASM Saleh Ahmed said here today.
“Land management so far remained as a paper-based and time-consuming work,” he told a review workshop on challenges of software applications for land service delivery system under Land Management Automation Project at Bhumi Bhaban in the capital.
Ahmed said as part of the government’s digital transformation campaign a number of standardized software applications were introduced in the land sector to make “public services easier, faster, and more transparent”.
“Lack of digital literacy and awareness among the rural population remains one of the major challenges in digitizing land services. To address these challenges, land service support centers are being established at the union level,” he said.
The top land ministry bureaucrat said efforts were underway as well to strengthen server and internet facilities, install backup systems, and carry out regular monitoring of officials and employees.
“Regular updates and reforms are also being carried out based on public feedback.”
Ahmed said and called the project a “groundbreaking step” to improve land services in the country.
He said the use of upgraded software was enhancing transparency, accountability, and efficiency in service delivery, and expressed hope that the initiative would take the country one step further towards modernization.
Land Reforms Board Chairman AJM Salahuddin Nagri, Land Appeal Board Chairman Dr. Mahmud Hasan, Land Records and Surveys Department’s Director General Md. Saidur Rahman and additional secretaries of the ministry were present at the event.
