DHAKA, Sept 21, 2025 (BSS) – Shipping and Labour and Employment Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hussain today said the essence of all religions lies in human welfare, peace and patriotism.

Sakhawat made these remarks at a program organized by the Gulshan-Banani Sarbjanin Puja Foundation in the capital today to celebrate Shuvo Mahalaya 1432.

Urging everyone regardless of caste or creed to work for the welfare of the country, the Adviser said, “All religions inspire us to fight against unjust, injustice, lawlessness, and thus give us opportunities for self-purification, and inspire the spirit of humanitarian service and patriotism.”

Referring to the Sharadiya Durga Puja as a universal festival in Bangladesh, Dr Sakhawat said that the Sharadiya Durga Puja has long been celebrated in Bangladesh and elsewhere in the world.

Through the celebration of this festival, he said, close bonds are formed among people, man-made differences and inequalities in society are overcome, while compassion and brotherhood are fostered among all.

On the occasion of Durga Puja, the Shipping Adviser extended warm greetings and congratulations to all the followers of this traditional religion.

He also assured that all preparations have been made by the government to celebrate this biggest religious festival of traditional religion in a joyful and peaceful atmosphere across the country.

At the same time, he urged everyone to remain vigil so that no vested quarter can carry out any malicious attempt centering the Durga Puja festival.

The President, General Secretary and other members of the Gulshan-Banani Sarbjanin Puja Foundation were present on the occasion.
