Notice published against 261 fugitives including Hasina in sedition case

DHAKA, Oct 31, 2025 (BSS) - A public notice was published on two widely circulated newspapers today, terming 261 people including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fugitives in a sedition case, asking them to appear before the concerned court on November 11.

The notice was published on daily Amar Desh and The Daily Star, with names and addresses of all the 261 fugitive accused.

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ariful Islam on October 14, 2025, ordered authorities concerned to publish notice on newspapers, asking 261 people including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to appear before it in the case filed for making attempt to dislodge the current interim government and carry out anti-state activities.

The other prominent accused in the case are Dr Rabbi Alam, Kabirul Islam Akash, Advocate Kamrul Islam, Elahi Newaz Masum, Zakir Hossain Ziku, Pervej Khan Emon, Sohana Pervin Runa, Md Mahmudul Azad Ripon, and Hafizur Rahman Iqbal.

Earlier, the court accepted a police plea to show 25 of the total 286 accused, arrested in the case. After that police filed the plea to summon the remaining 261fugitives.

According to the case documents, on December 19, 2024, during an online meeting on a digital platform Zoom, a group called "Joy Bangla Brigade" was formed. 

Participants expressed their determination to restore fugitive Sheikh Hasina to the office of Prime Minister through a civil war and to continue fighting until the last breath to ensure her reinstatement.
 
A total of 577 participants joined the cybernetic meet from various locations of home and abroad, unanimously expressing their commitment to follow all directives of Sheikh Hasina.
