UN briefs political parties on EC assistance efforts

DHAKA, Dec 4, 2025 (BSS) — The United Nations (UN) today briefed registered political parties on its technical assistance to the Bangladesh Election Commission (BEC), outlining support aimed at strengthening operational capacity, improving voter education and promoting greater inclusion and information integrity ahead of the national polls.

During the session, the UN team presented political party representatives with an overview of key components of its electoral assistance, followed by a question-and-answer segment, said a UN press release here. 

Under the BALLOT Project, the UN is supporting the election commission through staff training, voter and civic education initiatives, the supply of essential election materials, and measures to enhance inclusivity in the electoral process.

The UN said its assistance strictly adheres to core principles, including respect for national sovereignty and ownership, the promotion of human rights, and an unwavering commitment to impartiality, neutrality and independence.
