DHAKA, Dec 7, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said the July Uprising that toppled former prime minister Sheikh Hasina last year has brought a major shift in the mindset of people across the country.

"The July Uprising has transformed the mindset of the people. Now everyone wants change in all sectors," he said.

Fakhrul made the remarks while inaugurating the BNP's seven-day programme titled 'Plan for Nation Building' at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) Convention Hall in the capital.

Referring to the illness of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, he said people from all walks of life were praying for her recovery. "We have faith in Allah and believe that Allah will accept the prayers and supplications of so many people," he added.

Accusing the Awami League of weakening state institutions over the past 15 years, Fakhrul said BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is working to steer the country in a new direction. Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal would take the initial responsibility of presenting this new ideology to the public.

Fakhrul said Tarique Rahman had announced a plan to create employment for one crore people within one and a half years in a new Bangladesh. "This proves the BNP is an advanced political party. There is a tendency to portray the BNP negatively, and this must be countered," he added.

Claiming that many of the country's achievements were made under BNP leadership, Fakhrul said the party was passing through a critical moment in history. "Propaganda is being run against us. If we fail to fight the cyber war, we will be defeated," he warned.

He alleged that a vested quarter is attempting to create division in the name of religion. "We do not believe in dividing the state and society using religion. Bangladesh must come first. We must overcome all evil efforts and move the country forward," he said.

Fakhrul also outlined various development plans of the BNP and Tarique Rahman during his speech.
