BRUR celebrates Victory Day with enthusiasm

RANGPUR, Dec 17, 2025 (BSS) - The Great Victory Day-2025 was celebrated with much enthusiasm and various daylong colorful programmes on Tuesday at Begum Rokeya University (BRUR), Rangpur. 

BRUR paid rich tribute to the martyrs of the War of Liberation. 

The celebration of the day began with the hoisting of the national flag amid rendering of the national anthem early in the morning. 

Then, a colorful Victory Procession, led by Vice-chancellor of the university Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali, was taken out from the south gate of the administrative building with the participation of teachers, students, officials and employees. 
 

The procession passed through Shaheed Abu Sayeed Square and Cadet College Corner to the beat of music and circled the main roads of the campus and ended at the Independence Memorial Square. 

The Vice-chancellor paid rich tribute to the martyrs of the Great Liberation War by placing wreaths at the Independence Memorial Square. 

Subsequently, tributes were paid by various faculties, departments, offices and residential halls and social and cultural organizations of the university. 

Various social and cultural organizations of the university also paid tributes. 

Earlier, in the first hour of Victory Day, the Vice-chancellor paid tribute to the Independence Monument. 

A discussion was organized in the field adjacent to the Vice-chancellor's residence in the afternoon. 

Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali was present as the chief guest. 

Chaired by convener of the Great Victory Day-2025 Celebration Committee Professor Dr Md Ilias Pramanik, Bir Muktijoddha Md Abdus Chattar addressed the event as the main discussant. 

Professor of the Department of Mathematics Dr Md Tajul Islam, Associate Professor of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Dr Md Ferdous Rahman and Registrar Dr Md Harun-or Rashid and Rangpur Group Director Md Moazzem Hossain Sarkar also spoke. 

A sports competition was held at Playground No 1 with the participation of students, teachers, officers and employees. 

Then, a painting competition was held with the participation of children on the second floor of the cafeteria. 

After Asr, prayers and a mahfil were held at the Central Mosque to seek forgiveness for the souls of the brave martyrs. 

In the evening, a concert and a fireworks display were organized to mark Victory Day. 

Meanwhile, the national flag was also hoisted at the BRUR-run IT Training and Incubation Center located in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur.
