Tarique Rahman offers prayers at younger brother Koko's grave

DHAKA, Dec 27, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today offered prayers at the grave of his younger brother Arafat Rahman Koko at the Banani graveyard in the city.

Tarique Rahman prayed for the eternal peace of his brother's soul in the afternoon. Recitation from the holy Quran was also held on the occasion.

Later, he offered prayers at his father-in-law Rear Admiral Mahbub Ali Khan’s grave. 
 
Senior leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) were present during the visit.

Arafat Rahman Koko was born in Dhaka in 1969. He passed away in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on January 24, 2015, after suffering a heart attack. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Zafia Rahman and Zahia Rahman.

Koko served as a member of the Advisory Council of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) from 2003 to 2005.

Tarique Rahman returned to the country on Thursday after nearly 18 years in exile in London. On his return, he received a massive reception from party leaders, activists and supporters. BNP arranged a large reception along the 300 Feet area in the capital, where millions of people reportedly gathered to welcome him.

After the reception, Tarique Rahman visited Evercare Hospital to see his ailing mother, BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

The following day, Tarique Rahman paid tribute at the grave of his father, BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, at Zia Udyan in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. He was accompanied by thousands of party leaders and activists on the occasion.
