Secondary level students to get all textbooks by January 15: NCTB

DHAKA, Jan 4, 2026 (BSS) – The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) is expecting to ensure distributing the rest of all the books for the secondary students by January 15.

After completing the distribution of hundred percent textbooks of the pre-primary and primary level students, the NCTB has fixed the target to distribute rest of the books for the secondary (school, madrasha and vocational) level, according to the NCTB sources. 

Distribution of 84.78 percent out of a total of 30,02 55,154 copies  textbook have already been completed for the  current academic year, said NCTB release here today.

 “It will be possible to ensure distribution of all the rest of the textbooks for the secondary level by January 15”, the release added.

The publication and distribution of 8,59,30,880 copies of textbooks which have been reached all the educational institutes across the country ahead of the victory day,  for the pre-primary and primary students has been completed. 

So, the primary and small ethnic students were able to return home with all textbooks on January 1, said the release, adding that the distribution of books for the Ebtedayee Education and Braille system, a tactile reading and writing method for blind or visually impaired people, has completed nearly to hundred percent.

The activities relating to printing and pre-delivery inspection of 21,43,24,274 copies of textbooks for the secondary (from class six to nine) and Ebtedayee students are at the final stage.

 The publication of 88.50 percent and pre-delivery inspection (PDI) of 81.60 percent books of this category has been completed, according to the NCTB statistics.

Around 78.69 percent books on an average so far has already been sent to the educational institutes across the country. 

Around 96.16 percent for Ebtedayee level, 87.96percent for class nine and 85.61 percent books for class six have already been distributed. But the distribution of class VII and VIII is respectively 68.69 percent and 54.76percent and move is underway to distribute these books within the shortest possible time.

The online edition of 647 textbooks of all the education stages has been uploaded at the NCTB website (www.nctb.gov.bd) from December 28 for the convenience of the students, said the NCTB release.

Although the agreement dateline with the publication organization remains till February 3, but the government will ensure the distribution of secondary and vocational level student textbooks by January 15.
