SAU opens condolence book for Begum Khaleda Zia

SYLHET, Jan 5, 2026 (BSS) - Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU) has opened a condolence book following the death of the country's three-time Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

SAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr M Alimul Islam signed the condolence book this afternoon. He prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed deep sympathy to Begum Zia's bereaved family members.

The Vice-Chancellor said that Begum Khaleda Zia made significant contributions to the country's education sector alongside her long struggle for democracy. He added that she set a unique example in advancing women's education in particular.

The condolence book has later been opened for faculty members, students, officers, and staff of the university, as well as the general public, to pay their respects.
