47 arrested in 24hrs under Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2 in Dhaka

DHAKA, Jan 23, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested 47 people within 24 hours during 
a special drive under Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2 conducted by Jatrabari, 
Bongshal, Mugda, Rupnagar, Paltan and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police stations in 
the capital.

Jatrabari Police Station arrested eight people on January 22. They are- Md 
Abul Kashem Miah, Md Alamgir Hossain, Md Wasim Mahmud, Md Asad, Md Ripon, 
Saju Begum, Niloy and Md Wasim Mahmud. Police at the time recovered 5,000 
yaba tablets from their possessions, a DMP release said.

Bongshal Police Station arrested Md Shakib Hossain and Md Sijan Sheikh in 
separate drives.

Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station arrested Md Rubel, Md Feroz Miah, Nazma 
and Md Eusuf in separate drives.

According to Mugda Police Station sources, police carried out a day-long 
operation in various crime-prone areas under its jurisdiction on January 22, 
arresting 15 individuals.

The arrestees are: Farid Howlader, Abdus Salam, Md Joy, Md Khoka Miah, Md 
Golam Rabbi, Shahjahan, Tarikul Mohaiman alias Shimul, Md Bellal Hossain, Md 
Amir Islam, Md Sajib Khan, Abu Sayed Tamim, Sani Das, Al Amin Hossain, Md 
Sakib, and Md Masud.

Meanwhile, Rupnagar Police Station sources said police arrested six more 
people in a similar day-long drive in different crime-prone areas under its 
jurisdiction on the same day.

The arrestees are: Md Alamin, Md Zakir Hossain Akbar, Md Sohel Miah, Md Munna 
Khan, Md Suman Ali, and Md Shawon. 

According to Paltan Model Police Station sources, police carried out the 
operation on January 22, arresting the suspects from various locations within 
the station's jurisdiction.

The arrestees are: Pabitra Kumar Barua, Shanto, Hridoy Ahmed, Masum alias 
Liton, Sajib alias Saikat, Sharif, Rajan alias Picchi Rajan, Md Sohel, Md 
Hasan, Md Siraj, Md Shawon alias Aminul alias Zakir, and Md Ripon.

Police said the arrested persons have been produced before the concerned 
court.
