Stocks flat as large-cap issues tumble

DHAKA, Jan 22, 2026 (BSS) - Stock markets today finished the session of the week flat as profit booking emerged across major large-cap scrips.

The key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), DSEX, shed 6.23 points from the previous working day to settle at 5099.61 points. The DS-30 price index, comprising blue-chip companies, fell by 1.44 points to close at 1962.88 points, while the DSES Shariah index declined by 2.26 points to stand at 1025.42 points.

At the DSE, a total of 16,39,92,164 shares and mutual fund units of 390 companies were traded. The total turnover for the day stood at Taka 5,36,12,44,006.

Among the traded issues, 145 companies saw a price increase, while 189 companies witnessed a price fall, and 56 remained unchanged.

The top 10 companies based on turnover (in Taka) were Orion Infusion, Square Pharma, Dominage Steel, Fine Foods, Anwar Galvanizing, Central Insurance, Asiatic Laboratories, Summit Alliance Port, Acme Pesticide, and BD Thai Food.

The top 10 gainers for the day included Asia Insurance, Asia Pacific General Insurance, Sonar Bangla Insurance, Eastland Insurance, Northern Insurance, Dhaka Insurance, 1st Janata Mutual Fund, FBIF, Peoples Insurance, and Rahim Textile.

On the other hand, the top 10 losers were Midas Financing, Orion Infusion, Uttara Finance, Shinepukur Ceramics, First Finance, Apex Tannery, EBL 1st Mutual Fund, Phoenix Finance, Al-Haj Textile, and Ymax Electrode.

The port city bourse, CSE, also witnessed a positive session today. The selected indices (CSCX) and all Share Price Index (CASPI) increased by 15.44 and 25.24 point, respectively.
